When planning a wedding, make sure you book your suppliers as soon as possible. You’re going to want to work with people who are reliable and fantastic at what they do. Their schedules fill up fast! Someone who you’ll want to get in there quick with is makeup artist Sue Brophy. Sue specialises in bridal, beauty, TV  & editorial makeup.

“I absolutely love my bridal work. I get so much fulfilment out of transforming my brides and it’s a huge honour to be apart of their big day! When working with my brides I don’t have a one-look-fits-all. I really like to listen to my brides and what they want. For every wedding, I try my absolute best to give my brides what they want and then exceed their expectations.”

If I had a few tips for any bride to be, they would be:
#1 Invest in your skin

Beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin. I recommend going to a certified dermatologist as I find medical grade facials to be the best. The clinic I recommend and use myself is Clear Skin Clinic in Sandyford. They give free consultations and will get the best out of your skin, tailor-making a programme for your skin to get the absolute best results. You’ll be glowing on your big day and long after!
#2 Drink lots and lots of water

I know this sounds pretty obvious but the amount of clients I meet who live on coffee and drink minimal amounts of water is more common than you’d expect! Hydration is key and no amount of makeup can undo dry, dehydrated skin. Dehdration can also make you look like you have aged skin when, in fact, it could be sorted by the correct hydration. So if this is something you struggle with, set yourself on a water challenge, building up your intake gradually. You won’t regret it!!
#3 Test drive your makeup

I love a bride to be to wear their trial makeup for the whole day. By doing this, if they have any issues I can tweak or edit the makeup for the big day, ensuring it lasts long after the celebrations do.
#4 Teeth Whitening

A big, bright smile is the perfect accessory to beautiful bridal makeup. It’s also great for the groom; nothing beats a  bright smile. I personally love Crest whitening strips. They give a highly professional result!
#5 Choose an artist you enjoy being around

Weddings are supposed to be fun and I pride myself on giving my bridal parties the best experience possible. We always have the best craic on the morning of the wedding, while the pampering takes place. It can be the making of your morning having the right people around you.

If you’d like to book Sue for your big day, you can email her at Brophy.susan02@gmail.com, visit her websiteInstagram or phone her on 0863632181.

Some really great tips there from Sue! We especially agree with her on number 5. Don’t choose a makeup artist or hair stylist who’s hard to get in touch with or who you don’t get along well with. Make sure it’s an enjoyable experience!
