As the big day comes closer and closer, it’s very easy to get caught up in all the last minute organisation and planning. It can get a bit overwhelming at the best of times. It’s so important to set aside some time to really enjoy yourself and get excited about your wedding! Take some time off, round up the girls and have some fun. We’ve come up with some ideas for a little pre-wedding celebration. Go on, you deserve it!

Hit The Spa

As if we need an excuse to go and get pampered! Whether it’s just for one day or the whole weekend, get a massage, soak in the hot tub and switch off. A trip to the spa is perfect for you and the girls or you and your partner. Heeding the advice of our expert makeup artists, however, don’t go and get and facials or skin treatments done too soon to the big day. If your short on time, no worries. We’ve plenty more suggestions below.

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea has become so popular in Ireland over the past couple of years. It’s a great way to get together with your pals and still get the chance to have a good chat. The decadent cakes, herbal teas and glass of Prosecco certainly don’t hurt either. It’s not often we’re presented with such a spread so go ahead and treat yourself!

Bottomless Prosecco Brunch

Yes, I’m serious, it’s a thing. Nothing says celebration quite like sipping on a cold glass of Prosecco with your nearest and dearest. More and more restaurants are now offering brunch with bottomless Prosecco. Take a day off from your rigorous planning to unwind with some friends. You won’t regret it! (Well, you might the next morning!)

Weddings by Jen Masterclass

It wouldn’t be right to write a post about exciting, pre-wedding celebration without including my own masterclass. In November, I’ll be hosting Ireland’s first Wedding Masterclass in Killashee Hotel. I’ll be giving away some key tips for the big day that I’ve gathered up over the past 12 years of photographing weddings. There’ll be a number of wedding experts there to give their advice on hair, makeup, skincare, tanning and style. There’ll be afternoon tea, fabulous goodie bags, spot prizes and plenty of excitement! I’m so so excited! Gather up your girlfriends and get your tickets here before they sell out!

Wine & Movie Night

You don’t need to take the full weekend or even the full day to kick back and relax. Invite your friends over for a wine and movie night and, if you’re feeling really adventurous, throw in a takeaway too! Sure, why not?! This idea needs no explaining. We are no strangers to the incredible fun that unfolds when a girl gets together with her best friends!

As we grow older, we stop doing a lot of the really fun stuff we did as kids. For example, sleep overs! There is absolutely no good reason why we should stop having sleepovers when we get older! Relive your childhood Saturday nights before embarking on your brand new journey. Organise some games and start dipping into that nostalgia, talking about how you all met and how much has changed or stayed the same since then. This will be a really lovely night to look back on in years to come.

They are just a few short ideas of ways you can have a bit of well-earned time out in the run up to your special day. Will you be doing any of these things? Let us know if you have some ideas of your own too. We’d love to hear them!
